All it takes is that first idea. It could be a person, a scene, or just an ending. Could be from a book or movie you’re reading/watching and you think, I’d have done that differently. Or… but what if this had happened instead. You have to start somewhere and that somewhere doesn’t matter.

Beginning. Middle. End. Person. Place. Thing. Done a million times or done half a dozen times. Something is calling you to put that story to paper. Your characters are waiting to be born. Your story is waiting to be told.
